Kaitlin Walsh

Hi, my name is Kaitlin and I’m happy to soon be starting my second year as a toddler teacher at Artisan.

I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was seven years old, when I would “teach school” to my stuffed animals. At the same time, I’ve always enjoyed helping others and have hoped to make a positive impact on the world. I think being a teacher of young children is the best opportunity to accomplish those goals. Young children are discovering and learning so much as they grow, and I feel lucky that I get to be there to help them develop their own unique personalities and values. I firmly believe that the care and compassion they receive now will translate into care and compassion that they will express in adulthood. The world can use more of that!

As far as education goes, I have a liberal arts associate’s degree from NSCC and am looking to further my degree with a focus on early education. I am currently looking at my options for schools and degrees so I can move forward with my education.

My hobbies include reading, photography, and doing crafts. I am a cat lady through-and-through, but love all animals. I ride horses and collect art that has been created by sea creatures (seals, whales, etc) as enrichment. I believe it’s okay to be silly and try not to take myself too seriously. Feel free to say hello when you see me; I’m easy to identify by my brightly colored hair!

Janiece Dottin

My name is Janiece Dottin and I am 25 years old. I graduated from Westfield State University with a bachelor degree in social work. I'm currently working on my masters degree in elementary education. My overall dream is to mash social work and education together and be a school councilor. Currently, I truly enjoy working as an early child educator. Toddlers just make me smile day after day. I enjoy watching them grow and seeing major changes with in a few months. I love a challenge of reaching goals if one is struggling. I have many talents such as photography, dancing, and care giving; my biggest  talent is singing. Growing up I been in several choirs, one was a traveling choir where I traveled to
South Africa and had many concerts and meet and greets with school age children.learning their culture and musical input in the school change my way of both singing and improving music because involving culture creates community. Here at artisan I could sing all day with   the children, open circle is where I express my talents and it's heart warming  to see the children catch onto my different  singing skills. Ive been working with artisan for about a year and it have been a great journey! This community is different from all the others mainly due to the different cultures, talents, and family support that flourishes around the center. This is a place where I can call home.
